Mix yeast with warm water and sugar in a bowl; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt; make a well in the center.
Add the yeast mixture to the well along with melted butter and milk; mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf; place in a greased loaf pan.
Cover and let rise again until doubled, about 30-60 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing.
