Root Vegetable Mash

2 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 cup carrots, peeled and chopped
1 cup parsnips, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup turnips, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp nutmeg

In a large pot, add the potatoes, carrots, parsnips, and turnips. Cover with water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender.

Drain the vegetables and return them to the pot.

Add the butter, milk, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg to the pot with the drained vegetables.

Using a potato masher or a hand mixer, mash the vegetables until smooth and creamy.
