Garlic Parmesan Butter Beans

2 cups canned butter beans, drained and rinsed
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
