Put 4 cups of flour in a bowl with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Break 3 eggs into the bowl and mix them with a fork.
Pour in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water and mix with the eggs, salt, and yeast.
Cover the mixture with wax paper and let it sit until the yeast starts rising.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan until hot but not boiling.
Once the dough has risen about half an inch, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and stir.
Let the mixture rise again before frying.
Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side, then remove and drain on paper towels.
Optionally sprinkle with sugar before serving.
