Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet with 1/2 cup melted butter.
Place the greased cast iron skillet in the oven for about 10 minutes to heat up.
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup cornmeal, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.
Whisk the dry ingredients together for about a minute until well combined.
Pour in 1/4 cup honey and 1/2 cup melted butter into the dry ingredients.
Add 1 cup whole milk and 2 eggs to the mixture.
Stir everything together until combined.
Carefully remove the hot cast iron skillet from the oven and pour the batter into it, ensuring it sizzles upon contact.
Return the skillet to the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
