In a bowl of a stand mixer or handheld mixer, place 2 packages of Philadelphia kosher for Passover cream cheese.
Add 2 cups of sour cream and 1/2 cup of confectioner sugar.
Beat at medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
Add 4 oz of cooled melted semi chocolate to the mixture.
Add 2 teaspoons of grated fresh orange peel.
Add 1 tablespoon of chocolate liqueur or 1 tablespoon of orange juice for a non-alcoholic version.
Beat everything together for 1 minute until thoroughly blended.
Prepare a 6-inch square or larger ramekin by rinsing a piece of cheesecloth in water and squeezing out the excess water.
Press the cheesecloth into the ramekin or mold.
Divide the cheese mixture among the prepared ramekin and gently tap the ramekin against the counter to settle the batter.
Refrigerate the cheesecake overnight or for about 10 hours.
While the cheesecake is chilling, prepare the cherry compote by adding 1 cup of thawed frozen pitted cherries, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1/3 cup of water to a pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes until the cherries are soft and the sauce is slightly thickened.
Cool the cherry compote completely and refrigerate until ready to serve.
To serve, invert each ramekin and carefully peel away the cheesecloth.
Invert the cheesecake onto a plate and spoon equal amounts of cherry compote over the cheesecake.
