Cut off about 2 inches from the stem of the beets, leaving the tails on.
Scrub the beets clean.
Place a steaming basket in a large skillet with just enough water underneath.
Place the beets in the steaming basket and cover.
Bring the water to a boil and cook the beets until tender, between 15 to 25 minutes depending on their size.
Remove from heat and transfer the beets to a cold water bath to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
Once cooled enough to handle, cut off the stems and tails and discard them.
Cut the beets into small pieces.
In the same skillet, set the heat to medium and add brown sugar, orange juice, butter, orange zest, and hot paprika.
Stir to blend the ingredients and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Carefully add the beets to the skillet and stir again.
Cook the beets for 10 minutes or until nicely glazed.
Transfer the glazed beets to a warm serving dish and serve immediately.
