Soak Urad Dal overnight. In the morning make a paste of it by blending in the mixer adding very little water for the smooth paste texture. Now whip it for 10-15 minutes with hand or you can use whisker too. Add the paste now in a ziplock bag (or in a traditional Bori cloth, the thick cotton cloth with a copper nozzle).

Grease a plate with few drops of mustard oil and spread well amount of poppy seeds to cover the entire surface of the plate.

Now cut the corner of the ziplock bag and make designs with the dal batter on the plate covered with poppy seeds. Take help of a bamboo skewer stick to manage the batter flow from ziplock bag or to shape the designs (you can watch my video tutorial link in above description box).

Now keep this designed bori plate on sunlight until it is dry. Generally it takes 2 days to get dried properly.

And goyna boris are ready. you can store them in an airtight container. and fry them when needed. The healthy delicate snack for guests or any occasions.

Note: sometimes salt is added in the batter through various opinion is found too. Even I have not added any salt in the batter. Sprinkle black salt on fried boris, this taste best I think.
