Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup ground pork
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. 2In another bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Mix well to combine.
  3. 3Divide the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter). Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 3 inches in diameter).
  4. 4Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.
  5. 5Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal tightly, making pleats if desired.
  6. 6Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the gyozas in the skillet and fry until the bottoms are golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).
  7. 7Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Steam the gyozas for about 5 minutes or until the water has evaporated.
  8. 8Remove the lid and let the gyozas cook for another minute to crisp up the bottoms.
  9. 9Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
