Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (Gruyère or Parmesan)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (chives or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2Grease four ramekins with butter.
  3. 3In each ramekin, pour in a tablespoon of heavy cream.
  4. 4Crack an egg into each ramekin on top of the cream.
  5. 5Sprinkle grated cheese over the eggs.
  6. 6Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. 7Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  8. 8Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still runny.
  9. 9Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool slightly.
  10. 10Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
