Soak the berberechos in water with a generous tablespoon of salt for one hour to remove sand.

Heat the grill or grill pan and add a little olive oil.

Once hot, add the berberechos to the grill.

Season the berberechos with a little salt and pepper.

Drizzle a bit more olive oil over the berberechos.

Wait for the berberechos to open; if any do not open, discard them.

Once the water has evaporated, turn off the heat.

Optionally, drizzle with more olive oil and serve with lemon slices.

Place the berberechos on a serving tray and check if any have not opened; discard those.
