Southern-style Coleslaw

Cultural Context

Southern-style coleslaw has its roots in the American South, where it serves as a refreshing side dish to fried chicken, barbecue, and other hearty meals. This creamy slaw is beloved for its balance of tangy and sweet flavors, often enjoyed at family gatherings and picnics. Modern variations may include additional ingredients like pineapple or raisins, but the classic version remains a staple in Southern cuisine.
