Heat olive oil in a pan until shimmering.
Add minced garlic to the pan and sauté for a few seconds, being careful not to burn it.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika to the pan; mix well.
Add the 2 cups of basmati rice to the mixture and stir to combine, ensuring the rice is coated with the spices.
Pour in 4 cups of water and add salt to taste; stir again.
Wait for the mixture to come to a boil.
Once boiling, cover the pan and reduce the heat to low; let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
After 15 minutes, check the rice; it should have a nice bright color.
Turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let it sit for another 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, check the rice; it should be perfectly cooked with each grain separating.
