Hot Dog Chili

1 lb ground beef
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1 cup water

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for another minute to toast the spices.

Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, kidney beans, and water to the skillet. Stir to combine all ingredients.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

Cover and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve hot over hot dogs or in a bowl with toppings of your choice.
