Fill a pot with 4 cups of water.

Turn on the heat to medium.

Add the rinsed tomatoes to the pot.

Add the rinsed jalapeño to the pot.

Cook the tomatoes and jalapeño for 20-25 minutes until they change color and soften.

Chop the cilantro finely and set aside.

Finely chop the onion and set aside.

After 25 minutes, check the tomatoes and jalapeños; they should be soft and change color.

Turn off the heat and transfer the cooked tomatoes and jalapeños to a blender.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the blender.

Add 1/2 cup of the cooking water from the pot to the blender.

Add the chopped onion and cilantro to the blender.

Blend until smooth and well combined.
