Add the rinsed black beans to the Instant Pot.
Add 6 cups of warm water to the beans.
Incorporate 3 heaping teaspoons of Better Than Bouillon seasoned vegetable base into the water.
Add 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and 2 bay leaves to the pot.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt, adjusting to taste based on the saltiness of the broth.
Add half of an onion, leaving it in large chunks for flavor.
Stir the mixture to combine all ingredients.
Seal the Instant Pot and set it to the 'bean chili' button.
Let the Instant Pot cook and then allow for natural pressure release, which takes about 27 minutes.
Once done, open the Instant Pot to reveal tender black beans in a lot of liquid, which is kept for flavor.
