Get a plastic sheet and take a ball of masa.

Flatten the masa with your hands to form a circle, making sure to create ridges around the edge.

To make a tortilla using a mat, place a plastic sheet on the table, put a ball of masa in the middle, cover with another plastic sheet, and press down gently.

Check for cracks in the tortilla; if there are cracks, adjust the edges to ensure it cooks properly.

Prepare to deep fry the tortillas by placing a plastic sheet on the table and repeating the flattening process with masa.
