Boil water in a pot, ensuring there's enough to cook the dumplings.
Add salt to the boiling water.
Prepare the dough using flour, salt, and water, then cover and let it rest for about 20 minutes.
Form dumplings and add them to the boiling water.
Let the dumplings boil for about 5 minutes before stirring to maintain their shape.
Add the washed and halved Irish potato to the pot with the dumplings.
Cover the pot and cook until the Irish potato is fork tender, indicating the dumplings are fully cooked.
Chop garlic and onion for seasoning, and prepare to sauté them.
Add a little oil to a separate pan and sauté the chopped garlic and onion on medium flame for about 3 minutes.
Open two cans of mackerel and add them to the sautéed seasoning, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Cover the pot and let the mackerel cook for about 5 minutes to enhance the flavor.
Optionally, add tomato ketchup to the mackerel mixture for added flavor.
Plate the dish, ensuring there's enough sauce with the dumplings.
