Barbacoa de Res

Cultural Context

Barbacoa de Res has its roots in Mexico, traditionally cooked in pits lined with agave leaves, a method dating back to pre-Hispanic times. This dish is often associated with special occasions and family gatherings, showcasing the rich flavors of slow-cooked beef infused with spices. Today, barbacoa has gained popularity beyond Mexico, with variations appearing in many Latin American countries and in Tex-Mex cuisine, where it's celebrated for its tender texture and deep, smoky flavor.
