My Tender & Tangy Farmhouse Brisket hits the spot every time. And it practically makes itself - it is that easy! In this video, I'm using a slow cooker, but you can just as easily make it in the oven (see oven method in recipe below). Makes 6 generous portions Ingredients: 2 1/2 - 3 lb brisket of beef Salt and pepper 3/4 cup hot water 1 cube beef bouillon (or 1 tsp granulated bouillon) 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 cup tomato ketchup 2 TBSP packed brown sugar 1 TBSP butter Instructions: Season the brisket on both sides with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, dissolve bouillon in hot water. Add Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, mustard, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder to the bowl and combine. Slow Cooker Method: Place the brisket in the slow cooker, pour bouillon mixture over the top. Cover and set to High for 5-6 hours. Oven Method: Preheat oven to 325℉ Place brisket in a large pot or Dutch oven. Pour bouillon mixture over the top. Cover and cook for 5-6 hours. For the Sauce: When the brisket is done, set it aside on a cutting board to rest. Take 1 cup of the cooking liquid and place in a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Whisk in brown sugar, ketchup and butter. Remove from heat. Carve the brisket and serve the warm sauce on the side.
