Video Description

What Up Guys?!?! Growing up I used to get so excited when my Dad would make ackee and saltfish! He actually used to have a tree in his backyard and made it fresh for me all the time. If you don't know, ackee is a fruit of the Sapindaceae soapberry family, as are the lychee and the longan. It is native to tropical West Africa. It is most popular in Jamaica. I have to say that this is one of my favorite Jamaican/Caribbean dishes ever! I always have to have it with some fried dumplings (or Boiled) and plantains. JUM.COM!! I also will say that I wasn't really a big fan of saltfish with ackee I didn't hate it, I was always more interested in the ackee. So as an adult I began to make it without it and it tastes just as good! So here's my recipe of how to make the best ackee without saltfish. Enjoy! Comment down below if you ever tried ackee before. Can add more if needed) Just a pinch of salt. (Because better than bouillon is salted as well) Plantains 2 RIPE plantains oil (just enough to coat the bottom and keep them from sticking to the pan) Fried Dumplings I literally followed her video step by step and they turned out amazing.
