Learn to make 2 healthy breakfast recipe with Barley or jau. Enjoy the crispy dosa and super soft barley idli. Known for its cooling properties these barley dishes will keep you healthy in summers and also make you feel sated for long thus help you lose weight. Main Ingredients:- 1 cup broken barley/ जौ ka Daliya 3 Tbsp Urad Dal 3 Tbsp chana Dal Water as required Mix barley Daliya, Urad Dal & chana Dal in a bowl, wash the mixture nicely with water, once done soak the mixture in water and leave it overnight. Next morning grind the soaked mixture to a smooth paste. ( I have divided the mixture into two parts, as I will be using the same mixture to make idle & Dosa) Ingredients for making Idli:- 1/3 cup Rawa / Semolina/ sooji 3/4 cup sour Curd Salt to taste (Other spices of choice) For tempering :- 1 tsp olive oil 1 tsp mustard seeds Some curry Leaves (Mixed seeds or nuts of your choice) Method to make Barley idli:- Mix sooji & Curd into the barley mixture. Rest the mixture for 15 mixture. Meanwhile in a pan heat olive oil add mustard seeds, curry Leaves once they start to crackle add mixed seeds or nuts of your choice. Add the tempering to the batter. Add salt and other spices. Check the consistency the batter for idlis should be slightly on the thicker side. Grease the idli moulds and transfer the batter into the moulds. Heat water in a steamer or Patila ...place the stand and cook for 8-9 minuets. Once cooked and cooled take them out of the mould and serve with your favourite Chutney or sambhar. Ingredients for make Barley Dosa :- 1/3 cup rice flour 3/4 cup sour Curd Salt to taste Some oil Method to make Barley Dosa :- Mix rice flour and curd into the barley mixture. Let the mixture rest for 15 minuets. Add salt and other spice into the batter. Check the consistency the batter should be of running consistency. Spread the batter on a hot tava in circular motion. Cook from both sides until golden brown. Serve in breakfast with Chutney or sambhar.
