Video Description

In this episode, we show you the easiest and cheapest way to eat like a local while in Peru. Pretty much anywhere you go in Peru, you’ll see hanging chalkboards or whiteboards all around town. These are advertisements for menú restaurants which are places that serve daily specials for a bargain price (4-15 soles which is about $3-4.50). Menú restaurants generally offer you a soup and a segundo (main dish). Sometimes, you also get an entrada (appetizer), dessert, and/or drink (juice or chicha morada). I was surprised that we got both an entrada and soup. Oftentimes, you have to choose between the two. What we ate: Entrada: Soltero de Habas (salad with lima beans) Sopa: Trigo Soup (Wheat soup with some beef) Segundo: Trucha frita (Fried trout), came with beets and potatoes too Chicha Morada (semi-sweet purple corn punch) For the Entrada that day, we could’ve also chosen the abondigas (meatballs) or chicken with rice (arroz con pollo) Total price: (10 soles plus a one sole tip) There was so much food that we ended up splitting one order between the two of us Location: Q’ori Sara (Calle Garcilaso 209, Cusco, Peru) Find more tips about how to order at a menú place and learn how they are able to charge so little in the companion blog post: http://www.projectdinnerparty.com/how-to-eat-like-a-local/ Credits Host/Research: Sutee Dee Special thanks to Moises Santa Cruz for recommending Q’ori Sara and the staff of Q’ori Sara for allowing us to film ---------- Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/projectdinne...
