Ingredients Indian mackerel- 1 kg Onion=-4 nos Shallots – 6 to 7 nos Tomatoes – 3 nos Garlic – 10 to 12 nos Garlic – 1 big piece Green chili – 3 to 4 nos Tamarind – small lemon size Coconut – 1 nos Coriander leaves – one hand full Curry leaves – 2 to 3 sprigs Red chilli powder -1 ½ tsp Coriander powder- 1 tsp Turmeric powder – ½ tsp Fenugreek seed – ½ tsp Salt – 1 0r 2 tsp Method First we have to cut and clean the pieces into medium size and set a side. Take a small bowl add small lemon size tamarind and water ,keep them aside. Cut and peel the onion,shallots, garlic ,ginger, tomatoes and green chilli and set aside Then wash and chopped them well and set aside. Crush the ginger and garlic together and keep aside. Take a mud pot add chopped onions, tomatoes and green chilli . Then add crushed mix of ginger and garlic paste. Add curry powders such as red chilli powder , coriander powder and turmeric powder. Then add some fenugreek seed and salt Again mix the soaked tamarind water in to the curry pan . Pour sufficient amount of water and mix them well with a spatula. Then placed the curry pan on heat and cover and cook them well. Break one coconut and grated them well. Grind the coconut into a fine paste and keep aside Remove the curry lid and add Indian mackerel pieces and stir well,cook for few minutes. Then add grated coconut grated paste and Stir carefully so as not to break the fish. Cook the curry on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through Finally add fresh curry leaves and coriander leaves on the top of the curry and cook for few minutes Ones the fish curry is well set remove from fire and let the curry sit for a few minutes for all the flavours to meld. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seed let them crackled. Add chopped shallots saute for few minutes. Then add few curry leaves and saute and fry them well. Then poured the fried ingredents into the fish curry pan and stir carefully. Then serve the tasty Kerala style fish curry coconut with steamed rice, Kerala parotta, or appam.
