How to Make Cobb Salad 8.3.1 - What Is A Cobb Salad?

The famous Cobb salad is not named after corn cobs, as is the common belief, but rather after a man named Bob Cobb. (Yes, apparently that really was his name.) Story has it that Bob owned the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant in LA, and one night after hours, realized he was hungry. The restaurant was closed so he began rifling around in the refrigerators, digging up anything edible he could find, then tossed everything in a bowl. BAM, the Cobb salad was born. It quickly became the restaurant's signature dish. At its roots, the Cobb salad is a bunch of leftover bits and bobs (LOL ) arranged over the top of a bed of salad greens, then drizzled with dressing. It's also supposed to be pretty, which means you should take a few seconds to arrange the ingredients in an attractive way. Some people like to arrange everything in rows, while others prefer to group ingredients around the platter. Either works, as long as you like how it looks. This is a video series.
