We're trying Georgian food for the first time! When you ask Russian locals what to eat in Russia, you might be surprised at how many suggest Georgian food. It's extremely popular in Russia and you'll find restaurants offering Georgian cuisine all over. We were walking down Nevsky Prospekt - the main thoroughfare in St. Petersburg - when we came across a cozy looking Georgian restaurant that just opened pretty recently. It's called Gogi and we can't recommend it enough. It only took one bite to understand why Georgian food is so popular in Russia! We tried traditional Georgian foods like khinkali with suluguni cheese and tarragon, megrelian khachapuri, grilled suluguni, abkhazura, and ended the meal with a cup of amber-coloured sea buckthorn tea. This meal made us want to visit the country of Georgia to try more delicious foods. The staff were also some of the nicest people we met in St. Petersburg.
