A delicious variation of the famous grilled cheese. This grilled cheese dog recipe is easy to do and comes together in just minutes. Grilled butterflied hotdogs on a garlic butter toasted bun covered in creamy melted cheese. Shopping List: Hot dogs Hot dog buns Shredded sharp cheddar cheese butter, room temperature Garlic powder Green onion or parsley for garnish Chili for dipping (optional) Directions: Using a rolling pin, semi-flatten the buns. Mix the butter and garlic powder and spread evenly on the TOP of the buns. Sit aside. Butterfly each hotdog and grill flat side down in a skillet or griddle over medium high heat until seared and well heated through. TIP: You can also use a burger press to keep dogs from curling up. Place the buns butter side down in the skillet or griddle to toast. Cover in cheese. Place the grilled dogs on one side of the buns and cover with more cheese. Cover with a lid until the cheese is thoroughly melted.
