Sugar cane syrup has been a stable of southern farm tables since the 1800's. Learn how to make sugar cane syrup using sugar cane stalks. Sugar cane syrup is perfect for hot homemade biscuits. We even grow it in zone 7 in north Alabama. We show you the all the steps involved in growing tasty sweet sugar cane syrup. We start with planting, growing, harvesting, pressing, and finally cooking the juice down to a fine syrup. For our sugar cane press, we use an inexpensive sugar cane press that has been automated. This press is the perfect size for a homestead. Making syrup is not easy but it is rewarding. We use sugar cane syrup on homemade southern biscuits for breakfast. It is also great on peanut butter and crackers. Finally, it's great on pancakes with butter.
