Go Italian for dinner with homemade Calzone Pepperroni. Simply, pizza dough filled with marinara sauce, pepperoni slices, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses then topped with parmigiano reggiano cheese and baked until golden brown and crisp. Simply…..delicious!!!! Shopping list: 1 roll of store bought 10 inch pizza dough All purpose flour for dusting Pepperoni slices Low moisture mozzarella cheese Ricota cheese Parmigiano reggiano cheese 1 egg Splash of milk Instructions: Servings: 2, 5-6 inch Calzones Split the roll of pizza dough in half. Press or roll out the dough into about 5-6 inch circles. Like a pizza. Apply a thin layer of marinara sauce to one side of the dough. Add pepperoni slices over the sauce. Top with Ricota cheese. Be generous! It’s a main ingredient. Also add mozzarella cheese. Fold the loose end of the dough over the meat and cheese mixture. Press the edges together then fold and tuck to create a tight seal. Place calzones on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg and milk vigorously to combine then brush onto the top of calzones. This will give you a golden brown color to your calzones. Sprinkle the parmigiano reggiano cheese over the top of calzones. Bake at 400 degrees for 13-15 minutes until golden brown. Serve with marinara dipping sauce. Enjoy !!!!
