FULL RECIPE IN DESCRIPTION Hearty Venison Chili Prep Time: 5 β 10 minutes Cook Time: 35 β 45 minutes Total Time: 40 β 55 minutes Yields: 6 β 8 servings Ingredients: 2 TBSP lard (Meat) 1 white onion, diced (Produce) 1 green bell pepper, diced (Produce) 2 TBSP minced garlic (Produce) 6oz. can tomato paste (Aisle 4) 2 pounds ground venison (Meat) 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (Aisle 3) 2 TBSP chili powder (Aisle 6) 1 tsp. paprika (Aisle 6) 1 tsp. garlic powder (Aisle 6) 1 tsp. onion powder (Aisle 6) ΒΌ tsp. ground cumin (Aisle 6) Pinch cayenne (Aisle 6) 14.5oz. can fire roasted tomatoes (Aisle 4) 2 14.5oz. can chili beans (Aisle 3) 28oz. can crushed tomatoes (Aisle 4) Directions: Preheat a large cast iron Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add lard, followed by onion and bell pepper and a sprinkle of kosher salt, to taste. Stir to coat and cook until vegetables begin to soften, about three minutes. Add garlic and more salt to taste, cooking until garlic is fragrant, about one more minute. Add tomato paste, stirring to coat and allowing to cook down for a minute or two. Add the ground venison, all the spices, and balsamic vinegar. Cook, breaking the meat into small pieces, until browned, about 10 minutes. When meet is browned, add chili beans and both cans of tomatoes. Stir to combine. Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, diced onion, sour cream, and crackers.
